What are UTM Parameters?

UTM (Urchin Tracking Module) parameters are URL tags that allow you to track the source of your website traffic. Working with Google Analytics and other analytics tools, they enable you to measure which campaign, platform, or ad drives the most traffic and conversions.

How to Use UTM Parameters?

There are 5 UTM parameters: utm_source (traffic source: google, facebook), utm_medium (channel type: cpc, email, social), utm_campaign (campaign name), utm_term (keyword — optional), utm_content (ad variation — optional). The first three are required, the last two are optional.

Why is UTM Tracking Important?

Without UTM parameters, you can't fully understand where your traffic comes from in Google Analytics. Proper UTM structure enables you to measure campaign performance, optimize budgets, and identify the highest-converting channels.
